Team Update

All of us here at Wilmington Pediatrics would like to extend a warm welcome to Dr. Chelsey Bovenschen, who will be joining us in October 2024.Dr. Bovenschen, or “Dr. Chelsey” as she is known to her patients, hails from Colorado where she completed medical school at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduating from medical school, she followed in the footsteps of her grandfather and moved East to complete her pediatric residency training at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Following completion of her residency, Dr. Bovenschen and her husband moved to rural Colorado where she practiced full-scope pediatrics in the hospital and clinic. In 2022, Dr. Bovenschen and her husband moved back to New England where she joined Pediatric Health Care Associates, where she has worked developing her skills as a seasoned pediatrician.

Dr. Bovenschen’s clinical interests include working with medically complex children, as well as adolescent health. When not in the office, she enjoys parenting, outdoor adventure sports, reading, traveling, gardening and learning new languages.  We feel honored to have Dr. Chelsey join our group and feel she will transition smoothly, given her style of medicine, personality and motivation to provide the kind of care we are proud of at Wilmington Pediatrics.

We’d also like to extend our sincere gratitude and best wishes to Dr. Gaya Nene, who after 4 years with Wilmington Pediatrics, is making the decision to practice closer to her home. We are grateful to have had her, providing care to all of our patients and getting to know you all on a personal level. We will miss her collegiality and the strengths she brought to our practice. We also understand the challenges of long commutes on young families and hope her new endeavors brings a better work life balance. Please be assured that your children will receive excellent care in Dr. Nene’s absence, as there are several of us with open panels. If you chose to remain with Wilmington Pediatrics, simply give us a call to identify your new PCP, prior to October. If you decide to transfer care to another practice, please give us a call and we will facilitate obtaining your records.
